Matt 17:1-2 “Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.” NKJV
The disciples are on the mountain with the Lord and witnessing a “transformational” event. How are we transformed by the Lord? The Greek word that appears in the New Testament for transform is “metamorphoo”. It appears here and a few other places.
Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed (metamorphoo) by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” NKJV
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed (metamorphoo) into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” NKJV
How does the Lord transform us? By the Holy Word and by the Holy Spirit. When we are on the mountain soaking in His presence and glory there is a battle waiting for us below. Don’t be tempted to think, when the battles happen, that you weren’t on the mountain in the first place. The mountaintop experience is meant for us to shine out to continue from glory to glory in our battles, whether at work, home, or in your relationships. Jesus even tells us to be battling with fasting and prayer when we face the battle beyond us. Be encouraged that the Lord has meant you for glory from the mountains to the valleys of our lives.
Walking your faith? Your transformation will draw others. Be ready to help them, point them to Jesus and battle for them spiritually with prayer and fasting. Shalom!
ABBA Father, Spirit, Lord Jesus,
Thank you for allowing me to be transformed by Your Word, Your Spirit, and Your presence. Please grant me the power to be ready, from the mountain to the valley. Build me up for Your glory in all things. In and for Jesus' precious name. Amen.
